My landscapes attempt to bridge plein air landscape painting with out and out abstraction - almost of the abstract expressionist school. The blend of representational work (IE, almost photographic in quality) with fuzzy, gauzy abstraction of color and pastel plane has always compelled me. Can't the pure landscape be combined with the abstract squint of imagination to produce a third, even more inspiring realm? Such is my intention with these pieces - to offer something visually familiar and then combine that with an utterly unfamiliar set of images. Maybe it's the sense of deja vu or a dream state or even a portrait of a vague memory that you will find in these works. They are original but call out to daily sightings of land and space and sky, just the same. I hope you will feel as challenged looking at them as I do in their realization. Something familiar and yet something completely new and unidentified.
